Try buying a Lattafa Pride gift set in the UK and you hit the same wall everywhere. The listing shows a photo of five bottles, the labels are too small to read, the title says 5x20ml, and that is your lot. Nobody tells you what is actually in the box. Nobody tells you how No.3 differs from No.4. You are expected to pick a number and hope.
I got fed up with this, so I sat down with the line-ups for all five collections and worked through them properly. Twenty-five fragrances. What follows is what each box is for, which one I would buy, and three things I noticed on the way that I have not seen mentioned anywhere else. One of them should probably change your order.
All five collections in one table
| Set | The five inside | What the box is |
|---|---|---|
| No.1 | Affection, Tharwah Gold, La Collection D'Antiquites, Breeze, Shaheen Gold | The widest spread of styles. Nutty gourmand through to tropical fruit |
| No.2 | Artisan Ethnique, Natural Oud, Tharwah Silver, Eternal Oud, Ishq Al Shuyukh Gold | The oud box. Two real ouds, one leather, one fresh thing to stop it suffocating |
| No.3 | Nebras, Art of Wood, Art of Universe, Ansaam Gold, Kashan | The sweet box. Three gourmands, a smoky one, a fresh one |
| No.4 | Art of Arabia III, Ajwaa, Al Qiam Gold, Masa, Brioche Vanille | The grown-up box, and it contains the best single bottle in the range |
| No.5 | Vintage Radio, La Collection D'Antiquites 1910, Shaheen Silver, La African Drummer, Ishq Al Shuyukh Silver | The odd one. Theatrical, mostly for evenings, home to the cult bottle |
The Gold and Silver thing nobody mentions
Start here, because it is the finding that actually affects what you buy.
Lattafa makes several of these fragrances in matched pairs, a Gold and a Silver. I assumed, reasonably I thought, that a pair would sit together in the same box. Not one of them does.
| Pair | Gold lives in | Silver lives in |
|---|---|---|
| Tharwah | No.1 | No.2 |
| Shaheen | No.1 | No.5 |
| Ishq Al Shuyukh | No.2 | No.5 |
Three pairs. Three splits. Every single one across two different boxes.
So if your plan was to buy one set and compare Tharwah Gold against Tharwah Silver on your own skin, there is no set that lets you do it. You need No.1 and No.2. Want both Shaheens? No.1 and No.5. Both Ishq Al Shuyukhs? No.2 and No.5.
I cannot tell you whether that is a deliberate merchandising decision or an accident of how the boxes were assembled, and I am not going to pretend I know. Either way it is the sort of thing you would rather find out before you order than after.
Two more things I noticed
Nothing repeats. Twenty-five slots across the five boxes, twenty-five different fragrances. That is unusual. Most houses stuff their bestseller into every discovery set so the hero is always in the bag, and Lattafa has resisted. Buy two boxes and you get ten scents, not eight and two duplicates.
One wrinkle on that, in the interests of not overselling it. No.1 lists La Collection D'Antiquites and No.5 lists La Collection D'Antiquites 1910. They are sold as separate fragrances and I have treated them that way, but the naming in this corner of the range is a mess and I would rather flag the ambiguity than smooth it over. Every other bottle across the five sets is clearly its own thing.
You are not getting less perfume than a full bottle. Five at 20ml comes to 100ml, which is exactly a standard full-size bottle. The Asad set lands in the same place by a different route, four bottles at 25ml. So the trade is not quantity. The trade is that you never have 100ml of any one of them, and whether that is a good deal depends entirely on whether you already know what you like.
No.1: buy this one when you do not know their taste

Affection, Tharwah Gold, La Collection D'Antiquites, Breeze and Shaheen Gold.
No.1 spreads itself wider than any of the others and that is the entire case for it. Affection is a sweet nutty thing, pistachio and hazelnut and blackcurrant sitting on vanilla. Tharwah Gold goes bright and floral off polished lavender and bergamot. La Collection D'Antiquites is the dark one, black cherry and saffron over smooth woods. Breeze does white flowers with cardamom and a thread of incense running through. Shaheen Gold is pineapple and grapefruit, cheerful and uncomplicated.
Five directions that have almost nothing to do with each other. If you are buying blind, that is exactly what you want, because you only need one of five to land and the odds here are the best of the lot. It is also the box I would hand someone who has never worn Arabian perfumery and has no idea whether they will get on with it.
If I had to call the pick: Affection for a sweet tooth, Breeze for anyone who says they hate sweet perfume.
No.2: the oud box, and the riskiest gift

This is the heaviest of the five by a distance. Two of the bottles are built on oud, a third runs on leather, and the whole box leans dark. Brilliant for someone who already wears this sort of thing. A gamble for anyone else.
It is also the set where the note structures earn a proper listing, because the differences between the two ouds matter:
- Artisan Ethnique: rum, cinnamon and sugar up top, then caramel and cacao, finishing on vanilla and tonka bean
- Natural Oud: saffron and red fruits, rose and jasmine through the middle, down to oud, cedar and benzoin
- Tharwah Silver: mint and bergamot, clary sage and lavender, out on vetiver, musk and cedar
- Eternal Oud: plum and grapefruit, heliotrope and orchid, settling into benzoin, amber, vanilla and agarwood
- Ishq Al Shuyukh Gold: caramel and saffron, suede and leather, closing on vanilla, amber and musk
Note what Lattafa has done with Tharwah Silver. Four rich fragrances in one box would be unwearable for half the year, and the mint and bergamot opening is the escape hatch. It sits closer to the skin than everything around it, which people sometimes read as weakness. It is not. That is how a fresh aromatic is supposed to behave.
The bottle I would not want to give up here is Ishq Al Shuyukh Gold. Caramel into suede and leather is the most distinctive idea anywhere in the five boxes, more so than either of the ouds it shares shelf space with.
New to oud? Read our oud fragrance guide first. This box is not the place to find out you dislike agarwood.
No.3: the sweet one, and the safest bet after No.1

Ansaam Gold carries this box, and it is the single most likeable fragrance across all twenty-five. Mandarin and pear to open, rose and jasmine in a candied sort of sweetness through the heart, then vanilla, musk and a flicker of raspberry at the bottom. Warm, golden, very difficult to object to.
The supporting four: Nebras goes further into gourmand with vanilla and cacao, Art of Universe is powdery floral over soft amber, Art of Wood brings oud and smoke for the evenings, Kashan handles mornings with citrus, herbs and light woods.
Three sweet, one smoky, one fresh. If the person you are buying for reaches for vanilla by default, stop reading and buy this. It is also the box I would pick for a student or a teenager getting into fragrance, partly because the sweetness is forgiving of heavy-handed application, which teenagers are.
Already in the sweet-spiced world? Our Khamrah guide covers the house's definitive version of it.
No.4: the one I would actually buy for myself

One bottle justifies this box and its name is Masa.
Mango, saffron, lemon and pink pepper to open, which sounds like it should not work and does. Then osmanthus, ginger, orange blossom and violet leaf, which is the part that keeps it crisp instead of letting the mango turn into squash. The base is suede and amber with patchouli, everlasting flower and a cool mineral edge underneath it.
Fruit into saffron into suede is not a shape you come across at this end of the market. Most affordable perfumery that tries fruit ends up sweet; Masa ends up dry and a bit mineral, and that restraint is the whole trick. Of everything in the five boxes it is the one bottle I would put next to something four or five times the price without feeling the need to apologise for it.
The rest earns its place without stealing the show. Al Qiam Gold is saffron and amber done opulently, Art of Arabia III is the deep oriental, Ajwaa is warm and floral, and Brioche Vanille is unapologetic baked sweetness for days when subtlety is not required.
This is the box for someone whose taste has moved past the obvious, or for anyone who keeps complaining that cheap fragrance is too sweet. It is also the best of the five for office hours.
No.5: the strangest box, and the one with the cult bottle

Vintage Radio has picked up a following well outside the usual Lattafa crowd and I understand why. Bergamot, lavender and sage to start, faintly old-fashioned in a good way, something like warm valve glow and polished walnut. Then plum and black pepper wrapped around palo santo, which brings a creamy, gently smoky sweetness that most woods cannot do. It finishes on amberwood and sandalwood, smooth and close to the skin.
Palo santo is not a note you see used much at any price, and it is the reason this bottle gets talked about.
Around it: La African Drummer is warm and rhythmic, Ishq Al Shuyukh Silver is the refined intense one, La Collection D'Antiquites 1910 is built for formal occasions, and Shaheen Silver supplies a crisp, almost metallic freshness.
Here is my reservation. This box is weighted heavily towards evening, and Shaheen Silver is doing a lot of work on its own to make it wearable in daylight. Four of the five want low light and cold weather. That makes No.5 the least versatile of the collections, and the least sensible thing to give someone whose taste you are guessing at. It also makes it the most interesting, which is the trade.
The two sets that are not Pride at all
Pride is the premium tier, but two other sets are in play and they answer completely different questions.
Asad Set of 4: a whole line in one box

Asad, Asad Bourbon, Asad Elixir and Asad Zanzibar. Four bottles at 25ml.
This does something no Pride box does. Instead of five strangers in a box you get one fragrance and its three flankers, which means you can line them up and hear the differences. If you have any interest in how a house takes a hit and develops it, this is far more instructive than a set of unrelated scents, and I would argue it is the better purchase for a curious person even though it has one fewer bottle.
The original opens on black pepper, smoky tabac and a flash of pineapple, turns into dark roasted coffee with patchouli and a powdery thread of iris, then dries down on vanilla, amber, dry woods, benzoin and labdanum. Bourbon takes that and adds a boozy sweetness. Elixir sharpens it for the evening. Zanzibar pushes it fresher and more modern, and it is the reason this set works in July as well as January.
For men who already wear warm, spicy fragrance this is the easiest recommendation on the page.
Asad Perfume Set of 4 Collection
Our best Lattafa fragrances for men puts the Asad line against everything else in the range.
Yara Gift Set: one fragrance, two sizes

A 50ml bottle of Yara and a matching 10ml travel spray. Judge it as a discovery set and it fails, because it is not one. Judge it as a gift for someone you know likes Yara and it is close to unmissable.
Yara is the warm amber vanilla that turned Lattafa into a household name. Orchid, heliotrope and tangerine on top, a soft gourmand heart, vanilla and musk and sandalwood holding up the bottom, eight to ten hours on most skin. The 10ml exists to solve the one complaint Yara wearers actually have, which is wanting a top-up at six in the evening without carrying a 50ml bottle around all day.
Choose in one pass
Work down. Stop at the first line that fits.
- No idea what they like. No.1.
- They already wear oud or something dark. No.2.
- They reach for vanilla and sweet things. No.3.
- Their taste has moved past the obvious, or they find cheap perfume too sweet. No.4.
- They own everything predictable and want character. No.5.
- A man who wears warm, spicy fragrance. The Asad set, not a Pride box.
- You know they love Yara. The Yara set.
- You want to compare a Gold with its Silver. Two boxes, and check the table above for which two.
Small bottles are more useful than people assume
The 20ml format gets sold as a compromise and I think that is wrong on two counts.
Quantity first. A 20ml bottle is roughly two hundred sprays and a 25ml bottle roughly two hundred and fifty. At two or three sprays a wear you are looking at weeks per bottle, not a sample you burn through in a fortnight. These are proper eau de parfum concentrations too, the same strength as the full-size releases, not watered-down miniatures, which is a thing some discovery sets elsewhere are guilty of.
Then travel. Every bottle in every one of these sets sits comfortably inside the 100ml cabin liquid limit, which a full-size bottle does not. If you fly at all, a discovery set quietly fixes a problem your main collection creates.
While we are here, one piece of nonsense to clear up. You will see sites refer to a "3-1-1 rule" in a perfume context, presented variously as a spray ratio, a pulse-point formula or a layering proportion. It is none of those. 3-1-1 is the American airport security rule for liquids in hand luggage and has nothing whatsoever to do with how you wear fragrance. We go into it properly in our guide to layering Yara.
Practical notes if you are giving one
- The Pride collections arrive sealed from Lattafa, so the box you hand over is the box the brand put together. Nothing is repacked at our end.
- Five bottles can become five gifts. That makes these unusually handy for a family, an office pool or a secret santa where you have one budget and several people.
- They look presentable out of the shipping box, which matters if you are buying late.
- Check authenticity wherever you buy. Lattafa is among the most counterfeited fragrance brands anywhere, and gift sets are a favourite target precisely because the packaging does the convincing. Our guide on spotting a fake Lattafa covers the tells.
When a set is the wrong buy
Two cases, and I would rather say so than sell you something that disappoints.
If the person has one favourite and wears nothing else, a discovery set hands them four bottles they will never touch. Buy the full bottle of the one they love.
And if the point is a signature that does not run out, 20ml is weeks, not months. The total volume matches a full bottle but it is split five ways, which is the opposite of what you want in that situation.
Everywhere else, particularly where the taste is unknown or still forming, a set is the better call.

Frequently asked questions
Which Lattafa Pride gift set is the best?
There is no single best one, because they are built for different tastes. No.1 has the widest spread and the best odds as a blind gift. No.2 is the oud box. No.3 is the sweetest. No.4 contains Masa, the best single fragrance across all five. No.5 is the most characterful and holds the cult favourite Vintage Radio.
What is in each Lattafa Pride gift set?
Each holds five 20ml eau de parfum sprays. No.1 is Affection, Tharwah Gold, La Collection D'Antiquites, Breeze and Shaheen Gold. No.2 is Artisan Ethnique, Natural Oud, Tharwah Silver, Eternal Oud and Ishq Al Shuyukh Gold. No.3 is Nebras, Art of Wood, Art of Universe, Ansaam Gold and Kashan. No.4 is Art of Arabia III, Ajwaa, Al Qiam Gold, Masa and Brioche Vanille. No.5 is Vintage Radio, La Collection D'Antiquites 1910, Shaheen Silver, La African Drummer and Ishq Al Shuyukh Silver.
Do any fragrances repeat across the Pride sets?
No. Twenty-five slots, twenty-five different fragrances, so two boxes gives you ten distinct scents. The only ambiguity is that No.1 lists La Collection D'Antiquites while No.5 lists La Collection D'Antiquites 1910, which are sold separately but named inconsistently.
Can I get a Gold and its Silver in the same set?
No. All three pairs are split across different boxes. Tharwah Gold is in No.1 and Tharwah Silver in No.2. Shaheen Gold is in No.1 and Shaheen Silver in No.5. Ishq Al Shuyukh Gold is in No.2 and Ishq Al Shuyukh Silver in No.5. To compare a pair you need two sets.
Are these proper perfumes or samples?
Proper perfumes. Each is a full-strength eau de parfum at the same concentration as its full-size release, with its own spray atomiser. A 20ml bottle holds around two hundred sprays.
How much perfume do you get in total?
Five 20ml bottles is 100ml, the same total volume as one standard full-size bottle. The Asad set is four 25ml bottles, which also comes to 100ml.
Are the Pride gift sets unisex?
Yes. All five span fresh, floral, sweet, woody and oud styles, so every box works for any wearer. The Asad set is the exception, built around a masculine line, though plenty of women wear Asad Bourbon and Asad Elixir.
Can I take these bottles in hand luggage?
Yes. At 20ml and 25ml every bottle sits well inside the 100ml cabin limit for liquids, which is one of the real practical advantages over a full bottle.
Which set suits someone new to Arabian perfumery?
No.1, because it covers the widest range of styles and gives the best chance that at least one or two bottles land. No.3 instead if you know they have a sweet tooth.
Which set has the best single fragrance?
No.4, for Masa. Mango, saffron and lemon over suede and amber is more unusual than anything else across the five boxes, and it is the one bottle that holds its own against far more expensive releases.
Where to go next
Settled on a box? The full gift set range is here, and the wider Lattafa Pride collection has the full-size bottles of everything above for when one of the five wins you over.
Still undecided? Our ranking of the best Lattafa perfumes in the UK works through the house's strongest releases whatever the format, and best woody Lattafa fragrances is the better place to start if oud and amber is your direction.
